Washington Redskins Sign Stephen Bowen, Likely End Pursuit Of Cullen Jenkins

The Washington Redskins' decision to sign Dallas Cowboys defensive end Stephen Bowen to a reported five-year, $27.5 million contract with $12.5 million guaranteed likely means that they will not be signing Green Bay Packers defensive end Cullen Jenkins. Jenkins, listed as the top defensive end on the market by several, was targeted by the Redskins, but it looks like that has ended.

A report by Pro Football Talk suggests the Redskins had a handshake deal in place with Jenkins, but changed their mind and signed Bowen instead. However, two local reporters -- Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan and Mike Jones of the Washington Post -- tweeted that the Redskins never made Jenkins a formal offer.

In any event, it looks like the Redskins have chosen the cheaper option over signing Jenkins. Time will tell if that was the right decision.
