Giants Vs. Redskins Score: Graham Gano Misses Field Goal, Washington Trails, 7-0

Stay connected for news and updates

The first quarter of the NFL season opener between the Washington Redskins and New York Giants is in the books, and the Giants still have a 7-0 lead. The Redskins were poised to cut into it after driving into the red zone, but kicker Graham Gano pushed a 39-yard field goal attempt wide.

The Giants got on the board when Eli Manning ran for a two-yard touchdown, on a play set up by a 68-yard pass from Manning to Hakeem Nicks. Washington responded by driving the ball inside the Giants' 20-yard line before a sack ended the momentum. Gano, who was perfect in the preseason, missed the 39-yard field goal wide right.

Grossman has been victimized by drops and heavy pressure from the Giants, but is starting to find a way to move the ball. Tim Hightower has been busy as well.
