The Washington Redskins did a lot of things to commemorate the 10th anniversary of the September 11 attacks. They honored family members of the Pentagon attacks on the field before the game against the Giants. They had former U.S. Secretary of State Colin Powell be an honorary captain. Finally, they had Ne-Yo sing the National Anthem.
One of these things is not quite like the others.
Now, granted, Ne-Yo is one of the world's most popular musicians, but you'd think the team would have found something that is more connected to the 10-year anniversary of September 11. Oh well.
As for how Ne-Yo performed, he did OK. Nothing special, nothing bad. It's hard to criticize him for his rendition. But after seeing what Jim Cornelison did at Soldier Field before the Bears vs. Falcons game, it's clear Ne-Yo doesn't quite measure up.
