Washington Redskins Decline 'Victory Monday' Day Off After Win Over Giants

Not only did the Washington Redskins pick up a big win over the New York Giants in the NFL's week one, but they also appear to be committed to not resting on their laurels. Since Mike Shanahan took over as head coach, the Redskins have traditionally taken Monday off to rest after victories. Not this year, though.

After the win, linebacker London Fletcher pretty much declined the traditional "Victory Monday" off day on behalf of the team. Via Rich Tandler of CSN Washington:

The announcement of what is called "Victory Monday" is made during the celebration immediately after the game. After the win against the Giants, Shanahan did just that.

But captain London Fletcher declined the day off on behalf of the team. The team will voluntarily give up its Victory Monday and go in to work.

The Redskins won back-to-back games only once last year, so it's probably a good thing this is happening. Good for Fletcher and the rest of the players.
