NFL Cuts 2011: Washington Redskins Release Evan Royster, Anthony Bryant, Others

Stay connected for news and updates

The final NFL roster cuts are trickling in following the 6 p.m. deadline to get rosters down to 53, and the Washington Redskins have indeed released running back Evan Royster, according to Mike Jones of the Washington Post. Royster, a sixth-round pick in the 2011 NFL Draft, is released after he suffered a mild concussion in the Redskins' final preseason game.

Royster ultimately was the odd man out in a backfield that included Tim Hightower, Ryan Torain and fourth-round pick Roy Helu. Royster is a possibility for the practice squad, should he clear waivers.

Defensive tackle Anthony Bryant was among the most surprising releases. He expressed shock when reached by 106.7 The Fan's Grant Paulsen. Running back Shaun Draughn, wide receiver Isaac Anderson and tight end Derek Schouman were also released, according to Jones.
