Stay connected for news and updates

Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan would not rule safety LaRon Landry out for the Redskins' NFL season opener against the New York Giants, initially saying that he hopes Landry can practice on Thursday. Via Grant Paulsen of 106.7 The Fan:

However, upon being told that Landry himself said he would not play in Week 1, Shanahan backtracked a bit, saying this, via ESPN 980:

"I know exactly what happened. I talked to LaRon. I think LaRon made some statements to you guys. I think you should go by his statements and what he shared with you."

Bottom line: it looks like Landry won't play, but it's not officially official yet.
