LaRon Landry Injury: Washington Redskins' Safety Ruled Out For Week 1 Vs. Giants

Stay connected for news and updates

Washington Redskins safety LaRon Landry has finally been ruled out of the team's NFL Week 1 game against the New York Giants with a hamstring injury. Redskins coach Mike Shanahan confirmed that Landry would be made inactive during a Friday press conference, via John Keim of the Washington Examiner.

Landry had ruled himself out for the game on Wednesday, but Shanahan had been reluctant to make a final call until now. Landry did not practice all week, so it was pretty unlikely that he would play anyway. Now, we know for sure.

Landry had missed all of training camp with an Achilles injury stemming back to last season. Just as that was healed, he suffered a hamstring injury that continues to bother him.

Reed Doughty is expected to start alongside Oshiomogho Atogwe at safety in Landry's absence.
