2012 NFL Mock Draft: Mel Kiper Has Washington Redskins Selecting Morris Claiborne

In his latest 2012 NFL mock draft, ESPN analyst Mel Kiper Jr. has the Washington Redskins using the No. 6 overall pick on LSU Tigers cornerback Morris Claiborne. Though not as flashy as teammate Tyrann Mathieu, the Honey Badger, Claiborne is, as Kiper notes, "the best cornerback on the team" and "was quietly dominant all season." The draft guru says cornerback is a position of need for Washington, given that it shares a division with the New York Giants, Dallas Cowboys, and Philadelphia Eagles, who "have elite talent at wide receiver," Kiper says.

In his junior season, Claiborne made 51 tackles (32 solo), recorded six interceptions (No. 6 in the NCAA), and broke up 12 passes. In addition, he returned 22 kickoffs for 552 yards (25.1 average). Kiper praises Claiborne's build, noting his "good length at 6-foot-1" and that his 180-pound frame enables him to be "a physical player."
