The guys over at Draft King have come out with a new NFL Mock Draft, and without the ability to trade up, the Redskins take Alabama cornerback Dre Kirkpatrick with the No. 6 overall pick. Here is their rationale.
The clock is ticking on Mike Shanahan and the Washington front office. My anticipation is that they won't be in position to draft either Andrew Luck or Robert Griffin III, and with plenty of talk that Green Bay QB Matt Flynn (likely to be an unrestricted free agent) will follow now-former Packers offensive coordinator Joe Philbin to Miami, the options at QB might be limited on the open market.
The headline might be a little bit harsh, but with such high expectations about getting a quarterback or a game-changer at another position, it would be kind of disappointing to walk away from the Draft with the second best cornerback on the board. But Kirkpatrick is a good talent, and is deserving of consideration at this spot.
