The Washington Redskins added running back Keiland Williams to their roster Tuesday, Chick Hernandez of Comcast SportsNet is reporting. To make room for Williams the organization released running back Ryan Grant, who played in just one game a carried once for five yards.

Williams, who was an undrafted rookie for the Redskins in 2010, was released by the Detroit Lions on Oct. 18. In 20 games in Detroit he rushed for 195 yards on 60 carriers. The LSU Tigers' product mainly served as a third-down back for Washington in '10 when he played in 15 games and rushed for 261 yards and three touchdowns.

Williams will more than likely serve the same role for the Redskins, who already have rookie starter Alfred Morris and backup Evan Royster. Morris has rushed for a team-best 658 yards with five touchdowns, while Royster has 39 yards on just eight attempts. Royster also has 10 catches for 49 yards.
