Linebacker London Fletcher suffered an ankle sprain in the Washington Redskins victory on Sunday and even though it might present an issue for his Week 12 status, head coach Mike Shanahan said he expects to have the veteran available.
Washington Redskins head coach Mike Shanahan confirmed on Monday that linebacker London Fletcher suffered an ankle sprain in Sunday's 31-6 victory over the Philadelphia Eagles, but said that he expects Fletcher to play on Thursday.
At his Monday media conference, Shanahan called the sprain "a concern" for Fletcher's status this week, but said that, "knowing him, he'll be back out there though."
Fletcher had one of his best games of the year in Sunday's victory, recording 12 tackles, nine of them solo.
It will be a quick turnaround for Fletcher to get healthy as the Redskins are back in action on Thursday, playing a Thanksgiving game against the Dallas Cowboys. The holiday game at Cowboy Stadium is scheduled to kick off at 4:15 p.m. ET and be broadcast on FOX.
The 15-year NFL veteran has is in his sixth season with Washington. Through the season's first 10 games, Fletcher has 84 tackles, one sack, a forced fumble and an interception.
