Without RGIII, the Redskins have their work cut out for them against the Browns, who have come to play on Sunday.
Without the services of Robert Griffin III, the Redskins' offense sputtered out of the gates, but found its footing later in the quarter. Kirk Cousins completed just one of his first six passes in relief of Griffin, and threw an interception that was returned to the Washington 6-yard line, setting up Trent Richardson's touchdown run to give the Browns an early lead. However, Cousins recovered late in the quarter, connecting with Leonard Hankerson for a 54-yard equalizing score.
Cleveland outgained Washington in the quarter, 61 total yards to 56. The Redskins had just one first down while the Browns picked up four.
Cousins finished the quarter 2 of 7 for 58 yards with a touchdown and an interception. Browns quarterback Brandon Weeden completed 7 of 12 passes, but averaged less than four yards per completion.
