Will Montgomery injury: Redskins C leaves with knee injury

USA TODAY Sports

Redskins center Will Montgomery suffered a knee injury on Sunday, becoming the second Washington offensive lineman to leave the game.

Washington Redskins center Will Montgomery exited in the fourth quarter of the team's game against the Cleveland Browns on Sunday with a knee injury. Montgomery was announced as questionable to return, but ended up sitting out the remainder of the game.

Team trainers examined Montgomery on the sideline, paying particular attention to his left knee, according to Redskins beat reporter Grant Paulsen. Montgomery has started 30 consecutive games dating back to the beginning of last season after the sixth-year pro out of Virginia Tech started just 15 games in the previous four seasons combined.

Following the injury, Montgomery was replaced by Kory Lichtensteiger, who is in his fourth year out of Bowling Green.

In addition to Montgomery's injury, the Redskins also lost fellow offensive lineman Tyler Polumbus to a concussion on Sunday. Still, Washington was able to notch a 38-21 win over the Browns, vaulting themselves into first place in the NFC East in the process.
