The Redskins switched to a 3-4 defense a few years ago, but they have never had the dominant nose tackle to make it as effective as it possibly could be. Barry Cofield performed admirably in that role, but a Vince Wilfork type player would take it to the next level. That's why Russ Lande of the Sporting News has them taking Alameda Ta'amu of Washington.

The Redskins want to make an upgrade at quarterback, but they are not sold on Tannehill with a pick this high. So they grab Ta'amu, who at 6-3, 330 pounds can be a dominant interior force in their 3-4 scheme.

I agree that the Redskins could benefit taking a player like this, but this seems way to high to take a player that hasn't been projected this high in any other Mock Draft. He might move up the Draft Board when the Combine rolls around and during interviews, but this would not be a strong value pick, something the Redskins need to make.
