NFL Free Agency 2012: Jets May Be Favorites To Land LaRon Landry, According To Report

LaRon Landry has been a difficult player to evaluate in terms of free agency because when he gets on the field he is so valuable to the Redskins defense, but he just has so much trouble staying healthy. But the market is thin on safeties this year, so somebody is going to play for the potential he showed in Washington a few years ago. According to Rich Cimini of ESPN, the Jets are a team that will show some interest and could be a perfect fit.

"They need a safety and Landry probably is the best one in a market watered down by three franchise tags. The Redskins' former first-round pick (sixth overall in 2007) is coming off two injury-plagued seasons, so maybe his asking price won't be crazy. He's a beast as an in-the-box safety, but there are questions about his coverage ability -- and that's where the Jets need help."

The Jets have been thin at safety for a few years, and they have suffered injuries there as well. They could be a perfect fit if the price is right. Jason Cole of Yahoo has a few other options, including returning to the Redskins.

The Redskins drafted Landry highly in the first round and invested a lot of time and money into him, I'm sure they don't want to see him flourish in another uniform. The question is whether or not the price is right for them.
