The Redskins signed wide receiver Josh Morgan late on Tuesday, the first day of NFL free agency. But it seems that the new guy in town will go by a different name, if his grandmother has anything to say about it.
From the San Jose Mercury News:
Morgan asked reporters last year to refer to him by his given name, "Joshua," rather than "Josh" to appease his grandmother on the East Coast when she reads reports.
Anyone with multi-syllable first names (like us) can empathize with Morgan. At least the shortened version of "Joshua" isn't gender-neutral, unlike ours. But grandmother knows best, and so Morgan will be known as "Joshua" from here on in.
