2012 NFL Free Agency: Fred Davis Given Franchise Tag By Washington Redskins, According To Report

Stay connected for news and updates

It appears that Washington Redskins tight end Fred Davis has been given the franchise tag according to reports.

The designation of Davis now give the Redskins an inside track to resign the tight end. If the Redskins allow Davis to sign somewhere else, they will receive two first-round draft picks as compensation from whatever team signs him. This does also raise the question of whether or not the Redskins will re-sign safety LaRon Landry. Although the Redskins have a lot of cap space to play with, they may not re-sign Landry because of his injury concerns.
