The 6-foot, 197 pound Jones was originally drafted by the New Orleans Saints in 2007 as a fifth round pick. In five seasons he's played in 54 regular season contests -- 12 starts -- and recorded 75 tackles and one interception.
Jones' signing comes as the Redskins waive cornerback Chase Minnifield who is dealing with a knee injury according to Rich Campbell of The Washington Times:
CB Chase Minnifield suffered some sort of "setback" with his injured knee during the offseason, Minnifield's agent says. #Redskins
