Ahead of training camp, which starts tomorrow, Washington Redskins safety Brandon Meriweather's DUI situation was resolved. According to a tweet by ESPN 980's official twitter account, the safety was found guilty of a DUI, stemming from an arrest back in April, and was given a suspended sentence.
#Redskins Brandon Meriweather's DUI case has been resolved, ESPN 980 has learned. He was found guilty, 180 jail sentence, all SUSP,Fine $300— ESPN 980 (@ESPNRadio980) July 25, 2012
While his legal issues were resolved, there is still no word on whether or not the NFL will come down with their own punishment in this case. Meriweather was signed to the Redskins back in March. In his five-year career, Meriweather has intercepted 12 passes, recorded two sacks and 293 tackles. The hope here is that there will not be any serious penalties handed down by the NFL so that Meriweather can bring his aggressive style of play to the Redskins' secondary.
