Stay connected for news and updates

Anthony Armstrong used his Twitter account Friday night to announce that he has been released by the Washington Redskins. The wide receiver had been with the team since 2010. Armstrong showed appreciation for his fans and teammates in his announcement:

Armstrong's best season as a Redskin came in 2010, when he caught 44 passes for 871 yards and three touchdowns. His production dropped significantly last year, as he caught just seven balls for 103 yards and two scores.

This unofficially brings the active roster down to 53, though more moves may be executed before the 9 p.m. deadline.
