The New Orleans Saints players who were suspended over bounty allegations will be allowed to play in Sunday's season opener against the Redskins, according to Jim Trotter of Sports Illustrated. Trotter reported that "A 3-member appeals panel has overturned the player suspensions in the Saints bounty case, says a source."

There were four players suspended in connection to the Saints bounty case. All four -- Jonathan Vilma (full season), Anthony Hargrove (8 games), Will Smith (4 games) and Scott Fujita (3 games) -- will have their suspensions overturned and Vilma and Smith, the only two current Saints, will be eligible to play on Sunday against the Redskins.

However, according to Gabe Feldman, commissioner Roger Goodell now has jurisdiction to assess another punishment-- but he can only address the "intent to injure" part of the allegations. Feldman predicts that a settlement on these charges is likely.
