Redskins Vs. Saints: Robert Griffin III Torching Saints In Superdome, Washington Up 20-14 At Halftime

Stay connected for news and updates

Ask the New Orleans Saints if rookie quarterback Robert Griffin III is for real. The Saints are seeing what the young man from Baylor can do firsthand, as the Washington Redskins surprisingly lead the home team 20-7 at halftime in the Superdome.

Griffin has outplayed Saints star QB Drew Brees, with 11 of 13 passing for 182 yards and his first two career NFL touchdown passes. Griffin led the Redskins to scores on their first possessions of the game.

The highlight was Griffin's 88-yard connection with Pierre Garcon for a touchdown in the first quarter. In the second quarter, Griffin led a 12-play, 57-yard drive that he capped off with a 5-yard touchdown pass to Aldrick Robinson.

The Redskins gave up a touchdown drive in the first quarter and would be in control if not for a blocked punt returned for touchdown just before halftime to make the score 20-14.

Griffin also rushed for 31 yards in the first half.
