PHOTO: Kirk Hinrich Laughs During A Blowout, A La Derek Anderson

Stay connected for news and updates

One of the weirdest stories of the sports week happened on Monday night, when ESPN color commentator Jon Gruden ripped Arizona Cardinals quarterback Derek Anderson for laughing on the sidelines when his team was getting blown out. One brave reporter asked Anderson about it afterwards, which led to this epic tirade.

Anderson's tirade aside, the whole episode was silly, because one screenshot doesn't tell the whole story about an athlete's competitive spirit. But that's an aside. Why does this matter?

As it turns out, the Washington Wizards were involved in a blowout tonight, falling to the Toronto Raptors 127-108. Late in the fourth quarter, the Comcast SportsNet cameras panned to the Wizards bench, which showed a lot of gloomy faces and this one from Kirk Hinrich.

WHY ARE YOU LAUGHING KIRK? CAN'T YOU SEE YOUR TEAM IS GETTING BLOWN OUT!

Oh, sorry, Jon Gruden stole my keyboard.

(Major thanks to Andrew Gruss for the screenshot).
