Just when it looked like the Nets may attempt to mount a comeback, Kirk Hinrich hit back-to-back three-pointers for the Wizards, and the home team pulled away once again.
It was just one of those nights for the Wizards where things were going right. They took an early lead, and they closed with an even bigger lead. The final score was 97-77 and the Wizards out-shot the Nets 44% to 35%.
The Wizards had five players in double-figures by the end of the night. Nick Young and Rashard Lewis led the way with 16 points each. JaVale McGee scored 15 points, Andray Blatche 14 points, and Hinrich 10 points. John Wall also looked good with the ball, contributing nine assists.
2010 third overall draft pick Derrick Favors tried to show up Wall tonight, but his team would come up short. The rookie had 12 points and six rebounds in the losing effort. Jordan Farmar and Brook Lopez each had 14 points for New Jersey.
The Wizards will try to build on this big win with a visit to the 12-21 Charlotte Bobcats tomorrow night. With momentum and confidence, the Wizards have a legitimate chance of doing the unthinkable: winning a road game.

The Wizards are looking to get back on track with this home game, and they seem to be halfway there. The Wizards lead the Nets by 19 points at halftime at the Verizon Center.
Three Washington players are already in double-figures after 24 minutes. Rashard Lewis leads all scorers with 13 points, JaVale McGee added 11 points, and Andray Blatche contributed 10 points and six rebounds. John Wall also chipped in with six assists in the first half, as the Verizon Center has begun to hang up an "A" for each Wall assist. As if he were Stephen Strasburg throwing strikes or something.
Brook Lopez was the leading scorer in the first half for New Jersey as he chipped in with 10 points. Jordan Farmar of th eNets has also turned in a quality performance so far, with eight points and three rebounds off the bench in the first half.
The highlight of the half was this alley-oop from Wall to McGee, our resident slam dunk specialist. Perhaps the most important stat of the first half though is .295. That was the Nets' shooting percentage as the Wizards continue to display an improved defense. If they can keep that up in the second half, they might just have another win.

The Washington Wizards will take on the New Jersey Nets tonight in a game between two of the league's worst teams. New Jersey is faring only slightly better than the Wizards this season. The Nets are just 10-25 this year, only slightly better than the 8-25 record the Wizards currently possess. However, New Jersey is coming off a two-point win at home against a solid Chicago Bulls team.
The Wizards will be without the services of Josh Howard today, as Flip Saunders said he will not play in the game. He left the game against Philadelphia with an injury and did not return. They will have the services of Andray Blatche, who gave an interesting interview before the game began about his haircut.
The game will begin at 7 p.m. at the Verizon Center. Washington does not have a road win this season, but they are a .500 team at home. New Jersey defeated the Wizards 97-89 in New Jersey on December 16, in what ended up being Gilbert Arenas' last game.
