Andray Blatche Injury: Shoulder Sprain Comes At A Bad Time For The Wizards

Andray Blatche suffered a shoulder sprain in the first quarter of the wizards game against the Bucks last night. The severity of the injury is still unknown, and a timetable for his return has not been set.

Injuries are starting to mount up for the Wizards, and depth at the forward positions is starting to become a little bit of a concern, according to Gene Wang of the Washington Post. They still don't have Rashard Lewis or Josh Howard, and Cartier Martin missed last night's game as well. It's starting to wear on John Wall.

"It's tough having a lot of people out," rookie point guard John Wall said. "We didn't really have a true small forward, and Mo did a great job doing as much as he can without knowing all the plays. It was tough to lose Dray. That gave other people an opportunity to step up, and tonight, they didn't step up in that position, and nobody else stepped up in the other positions."

They will need to get some of those players back and healthy if they want to start playing a little bit better. The season is kind of lost already, but the Wizards can build some positive momentum heading into next year.

Bucks Vs. Wizards: Washington Blown Out In 95-76 Defeat

The Washington Wizards had a chance to take the season series against the Milwaukee Bucks with a win. Instead, they were routed. The Wizards fell to the Bucks 95-76, in a game that wasn't as close as the score indicated.

Brandon Jennings had 23 points and John Salmons added 22 to lead the Bucks, who broke the game open quickly in the third quarter. They went on a 15-4 run to close the quarter, taking a 75-52 lead after three quarters. The Bucks' win moved them to within two and a half games of eighth-place Indiana in the Eastern Conference.

Jordan Crawford led the Wizards with 22 points off the bench. The Wizards ended the game shooting just 37.6 percent from the field, 2-12 from three-point range and just 10-19 from the free-throw line. They also lost Andray Blatche to a shoulder injury early in the game.

Bucks Vs. Wizards: Milwaukee Rides Second-Quarter Surge To 51-36 Halftime Lead

The first quarter went fine for the Washington Wizards. The second quarter, though, was a different story. The Wizards were outscored 29-15 in the second quarter and trail the Milwaukee Bucks 51-36 at halftime.

John Salmons has 18 points on 6-9 shooting to lead the Bucks, who really clamped down on the Wizards in the second quarter. The Wizards had just six made field goals in the quarter, with six turnovers there to boot. For the game, the Wizards are shooting just 33 percent from the field and have 11 turnovers.

With the score tied at 30, the Bucks went on an 11-2 run to take a 41-32 lead with 2:47 remaining. The Bucks then hit two straight three-pointers in the final minute, one by Salmons and one off the glass by Brandon Jennings at the buzzer to account for the halftime margin.

Jordan Crawford leads the Wizards with 11 points. The Wizards are playing without Rashard Lewis and Josh Howard, and also lost Andray Blatche to a shoulder injury early in the first quarter.

Bucks Vs. Wizards: Andray Blatche Injures Shoulder In First Quarter

The Washington Wizards suffered a key injury very early in their game against the Milwaukee Bucks. Forward Andray Blatche injured his right shoulder at the 8:46 mark of the first quarter, and was taken back to the locker room. The Wizards are saying he has a strained shoulder, and his return is doubtful.

Blatche was trying to make a move off the dribble on the left side of the floor when the Bucks poked the ball away. Blatche went after the loose ball and dove on the floor, but slammed to the ground right on his right shoulder. He was holding his right shoulder on the floor as play continued the other way, and was clutching it as he left the floor.

Blatche's absence comes at an inopportune time, because he was starting to pick up his play after a disappointing year. Trevor Booker replaced him in the lineup at power forward, and Kevin Seraphin will now likely receive more time.

Bucks Vs. Wizards: John Wall, Brandon Jennings Square Off At Verizon Center

The Wizards and Bucks have split two games thus far this season. Tonight, they will square off again, as John Wall leads Washington against Brandon Jennings and Milwaukee. Tip time is at 7 p.m. at the Verizon Center.

The Wizards are coming off a 113-102 road loss to the Detroit Pistons on Sunday, while the Bucks are coming off an 89-83 home loss to the mighty Boston Celtics. The Bucks will catch a break, as center Andrew Bogut returns to action for the first time since February 26. Bogut continues to be bothered by injuries suffered in a devastating fall last April.

The Bucks need this victory if they want any chance to make the playoffs. They trail the Indiana Pacers by 3.5 games for the eighth and final playoff spot. They had high expectations coming into the season after a surprising season last year, but injuries and sluggish play has put them in danger of even returning to the playoffs in the first place.

The Wizards, meanwhile, are without Rashard Lewis, Josh Howard and Cartier Martin tonight. Maurice Evans will start at small forward.
