All season long, JaVale McGee has tried to be a 7-foot point guard. All season long, McGee has failed in this quest. Finally, in his last home game of the 2011 season, McGee had his moment in the sun against the Boston Celtics.↵
Yes, that's McGee completing a behind-the-back pass in traffic inside the paint to Othyus Jeffers for a slam dunk. The crowd went wild, and even the myriad Boston Celtics fans in attendance were impressed. Naturally, McGee also started the play with a two-handed block on Troy Murphy, who went flying as McGee swallowed his layup attempt.↵
Flip Saunders didn't dare sit McGee after that play, even though Saunders has customarily followed McGee's point guard act by planting McGee's butt on the bench. I guess there is a lot of truth to the idea that a play is good so long as its completed. The ends seem to justify the means here.
