WASHINGTON, D.C. - When the Washington Wizards unveiled their new uniforms at a ceremony on Tuesday morning, all the talk was about the importance of paying homage to the past while applying that to the future. To convey this feeling, the team played this video to begin the festivities. It features a timeline of all the old jerseys they wore over the years, spliced with clips of an interview with Ted Leonsis.
Leonsis talked about how the Wizards won with a red, white and blue look, and indeed, a lot of the people most responsible for that were in attendance. Several notable team alumni, most prominently Bobby Dandridge and Elvin Hayes, were in attendance taking the whole ceremony in. All were so excited to see the red, white and blue return, probably because it reminded them of their past.
All in all, it certainly seems like the Wizards accomplished what they set out to accomplish.
