Whether they like his game or not, I think Washington Wizards fans will enjoy rooting for Jan Vesely, the Serbian forward picked with the No. 6 selection in the 2011 NBA Draft. He's definitely got a cocky side. First, he made out with his girlfriend on television. Later, he seemed stupified when asked whether he talked to other Serbian basketball players, saying the only person he got advice from was the coach of his club team.
In-between, Vesely did a live interview for ESPN, and was asked about how he was dubbed the "European Blake Griffin" for his athleticism and his dunks. Vesely decided to turn it around on ESPN's Mark Jones, who asked the question.
"I don't know," he said. "I think Blake Griffin is the American Jan Vesely."
Yup, I think I love this guy already. Bring on the Jan Vesely era, and may his first NBA highlight be a dunk on Blake Griffin.
