Wizards Vs. Rockets: Jan Vesely Makes His First Career Start, Matched Up With Luis Scola

Stay connected for news and updates

It didn't take long for Randy Wittman to shake things up. In just his second game taking over for Flip Saunders, Wittman is starting rookie Jan Vesely. It is Vesely's first career start in the NBA, and will come against a Houston Rockets front line of Samuel Dalembert and Luis Scola.

Via the @WashWizards:

Startling lineup: G-Wall, G-Young, F-Lewis, F-Vesely, C-McGee * 1st career start for Vesely #WizRockets

Vesely has played in the Wizards last 11 games, and is averaging just under 13 minutes per game. The starting nod is a nice promotion for the No. 6 overall pick in last summer's draft. Apparently, Wittman is using him for defensive reasons, according to the Post's Michael Lee:

His best game of the season so far came earlier in January against this same Rockets team, scoring seven points and grabbing six boards.
