Jan Vesely Injury Update: Wizards Rookie Will Play Vs. Timberwolves

Stay connected for news and updates

Wizards rookie Jan Vesely is expected to see his first NBA game action Sunday afternoon against the Timberwolves, after sitting out Washington's first seven games with a hip injury. Washington selected the 6-foot-11 Czech forward with the No. 6 pick in the 2011 NBA draft.

"We're going to give him some time tonight," head coach Flip Saunders said before the game. "It's a good opportunity, because they really play one big guy [at center] and some 4s at other times. so I think we'll try to get him some time."

Vesely's health is welcome for the Wizards, who will be without the services of Rashard Lewis (sore right knee). Another Washington rookie, Chris Singleton, will start at the small forward spot.

The Timberwolves are missing a starter or their own, forward Michael Beasley, who is out with a sprained right foot.
