Spurs vs. Wizards final score update: San Antonio blows out Washington, 118-92

Rob Carr

San Antonio shot better than 56 percent from three-point range as they blitzed the Wizards on the offensive end and secured a 26-point win.

The Wizards remain winless on the season after falling to the San Antonio Spurs on Monday night, 118-92. There was some hope that the Wizards were catching the Spurs with tired legs on the second night of a back-to-back, but San Antonio's ball movement and shooting quickly overwhelmed the Wizards defense and Gregg Popovich's club enjoyed a comfortable double-digit lead throughout second half.

San Antonio shot better than 56 percent from behind the arc as they built their lead to as much as 29 points in the second half. The Spurs are renowned for their offensive efficiency, and the Wizards could simply not keep up and rotate in time. The open looks led to the high shooting percentage from the field and three-point range. Seven players were in double figures as the Spurs spread it around. Tony Parker, Manu Ginobili, and Tim Duncan were all in double figures, but it was center Tiago Splitter who stuffed the stat sheet with 15 points and 12 rebounds.

The Wizards could simply not keep up offensively, but Jordan Crawford and Martell Webster provided some instant scoring off the bench. Webster did much of his damage in the first half, and finished with 16 points on just seven attempts from the field. Crawford scored a team-high 19 points and Kevin Seraphin was the primary option on the inside, finishing with 18. But a sub-30 percent mark from three simply wouldn't cut it against a Spurs team that was humming on the offensive end of the floor.

At 0-12, Randy Wittman's club next hosts the Portland Trail Blazers on Wednesday evening.
