Wizards swingman Trevor Ariza could miss three weeks after injuring his calf in Tuesday night's win over the Heat. Chuck Gormley of CSN reported that Ariza could now be out most of December recovering from the calf strain. Ariza went for a steal and came up lame, pulling the calf. It was one of the few low moments in a huge upset of the defending champions at Verizon Center.
In his first year in Washington, Ariza is averaging 8.1 points per game in just over 25 minutes. His athleticism on the wing can be a big asset on both ends of the floor, but he's also shooting below 35 percent on the year.
Martell Webster will likely see his minutes jump with Ariza out. Webster played 32 minutes in the win over the Heat -- it was only the third time this season he's played more than 30 minutes. Webster was a minor offseason acquisition, but he has been a pleasant surprise and solid contributor off the bench for Randy Wittman.
