Wizards Vs. Jazz Recap: Utah Runs Away In The Second Half For 114-100 Win

Randy Wittman and the Washington Wizards lost their second straight game on Friday night, falling 114-100 to the Utah Jazz in Salt Lake City. The Wizards kicked off this five-game road trip with two straight victories, but have now dropped two in a row to the Clippers and Jazz. Washington led briefly in the first quarter but the Jazz jumped all over the Wizards and scored a slew of easy buckets in the paint to coast to a comfortable win.

John Wall led the Wizards with 24 points and five assists while Jordan Crawford chipped in off the bench with 21 points. Wall was a perfect eight for eight from the free-throw line as he broke down the Jazz guards and got into the lane with regularity. But Utah simply had too much for the Wizards to handle on the inside, as Al Jefferson posted 26 points in the first half - part of 42 points scored in the paint by Utah in the first two quarters. Salt Lake City is a notoriously hard place to play, and the interior defense for Washington was not there against the dynamic young front line of Utah.

Washington now has two days off before finishing off their road trip on Monday night in Phoenix against the Suns.

Wizards Vs. Jazz Score Update: Utah And Al Jefferson Dominate The Paint For 12-Point Lead Over Washington

The Washington Wizards trail the Utah Jazz 62-50 after one half in Salt Lake City. The Wizards are looking to get back on the winning track on what has been a successful road trip thus far. The Jazz, boasting one of the better young frontcourts in the league, did most of their damage at the rim, scoring 42 points in the paint in the first half. Al Jefferson was a monster inside, scoring 16 points in the second quarter and finishing the first 24 minutes with 26 points.

Javale McGee continues his solid play and is 4-for-5 from the field for nine points. Point guard John Wall led with double figures for Randy Wittman, scoring 12 points. Wall has had success getting into the lane and getting to the line, hitting six of six attempts from charity stripe. But the Jazz have simply had their way inside, hitting nearly 60 percent from the floor as they dominate the paint.

Washington will have to step up the resistance at the rim to get back into it and cut into the double digit Utah lead.
