Wizards Vs. Hawks Recap: Washington Runs Out Of Gas In Second Half, Loses 102-88

After one half at Philips Arena, the Washington Wizards looked poised to pull off their second straight road win. But it was not to be, as the undermanned Wiz came out in the third period flat and cold and the Hawks took full advantage to quickly go up double digits. When it was all said and done, Atlanta finished off Washington with a 102-88 win.

Playing their fourth road game this week, Washington ran out of gas and scored just ten points in the third quarter. Trevor Booker led all Washington scorers with 18 points, while also grabbing nine rebounds. John Wall had a near triple double, scoring 14, dishing nine assists, and grabbing eight boards but the second-year point guard also had an alarming nine turnovers. After three and a half straight games of solid output on the offensive end, Washington just went cold and could not get any stops on the other end to keep it close.

The Wizards will now finally wrap up this road trip on Sunday in Memphis against the Grizzlies.

Wizards Vs. Hawks Scoring Update: New-Look Roster Looking For Second Straight, Up 4 At Half

The Washington Wizards are looking for their second straight road win on Friday night, playing on a back-to-back. This is the second game since they traded Nick Young and Javale McGee. Nene is not yet active for Washington, as he still has to pass a physical, but the Wizards are still up four points on the Atlanta Hawks at the half

This trip has seen much-improved play on the offensive end, as the Wizards have shot the ball well and been efficient. They are once again shooting well in Atlanta, drilling 71 percent from behind the arc and almost 54 percent from the field. John Wall and Roger Mason lead Washington with ten points each. Mason continues to see a lot more minutes, and he has taken full advantage providing plenty of scoring punch off the bench. Wall also has seven assists and five rebounds.

Joe Johnson has been the one Hawk to really go off on the offensive end, hitting four of five three-pointers so far. But the new-look Wizards continue to hold their own out on the road. They will have to continue the offensive efficiency to pull out the win.

Wizards Vs. Hawks: No Nene In Atlanta For Wizards Tonight, According To Report

The centerpiece of the Wizards three-team trade Thursday was Brazilian center Nene, the seventh overall pick in the 2001 NBA Draft whom the Wizards acquired from the Nuggets in exchange for JaVale McGee.

Due to the fact that the trade was made very close to the NBA's official trade deadline of 3 p.m. Thursday, the swap between the Wizards, Nuggets, and Los Angeles Clippers wasn't made official until later Thursday night. As a result, Nene has until Saturday evening to join the Wizards, provided he passes a physical. So with all that in mind, it's not surprising that Nene will not be available for the Wizards tonight in Atlanta, per Michael Lee of the Washington Post.

Tonight's game tips off at 7:30 and can be seen on Comcast SportsNet.
