NBA Trade Rumors 2012: Washington Wizards Express Interest In Andrew Bogut, According To Report

The NBA Trade Deadline is March 15, and already the Washington Wizards have been at the center of plenty of trade rumors. The latest comes from Marc Stein of ESPN.com, who reports that the Wizards are gunning hard for former No. 1 overall pick Andrew Bogut:

Sources say that the Washington Wizards are among the teams to express the strongest interest in Bogut, which might be another indication that the Wiz are prepared to part with the enigmatic JaVale McGee, if not before the deadline than during the offseason.

Bogut has played 12 games this season has he continues to recover from a severe arm injury suffered in an awkward fall during the 2009-10 season. Mike Prada has expressed his thoughts on the matter over at SB Nation's Wizards blog Bullets Forever.

Here's why I'm not in favor. 1. The Bucks' asking price seems high ... 2. Bogut simply isn't healthy ... 3. That's a lot of long-term money to take on: Would you rather pay McGee a five-year, $52 million deal or pay Bogut a two-year, $27 million deal and Stephen Jackson a one-year, $10 million? At least there's a chance McGee lives up to his contract.

As Mike referenced, the Bucks are also reportedly insisting that any interested trade partner would have to take on the perpetually disgruntled Jackson as well as Bogut, which makes the deal less appetizing any way you slice it. Still, it seems that this is definitely one to watch.
