Washington Wizards point guard John Wall will be a part of the Team USA select team and will scrimmage against the Olympic team prior to this summer's games in London.
Washington Wizards point guard John Wall has been named to the Team USA select team and will scrimmage against the men's basketball Olympic team this summer before the olympic games in London, England. The remainder of the select team has yet to be announced, but DeMarcus Cousins, Wall's former teammate at Kentucky, is expected to be on the select team as well.
Just being on the select team could open up big opportunities down the road for Wall. Before the Beijing Olympics in 2008, the Olympic team scrimmaged against a select team made of players like Derrick Rose, Kevin Durant, Kevin Love, Andre Iguodala and Russell Westbrook. Those five players helped Team USA win gold at the 2010 World Championships in Turkey.
Because of injuries to players such as Rose, Dwight Howard, Chauncey Billups and Lamarcus Aldredge, Team USA will have to choose some replacements ahead of the deadline of June 18 to announce the full roster for London.
