ESPN's Marc Stein reports that the Washington Wizards are giving "renewed consideration" to releasing Andray Blatche through the amnesty clause to avoid paying $23 million to the power forward.

Less than two years since the Washington Wizards gave Andray Blatche a contract extension that would pay him $35 million over five seasons, the Wizards want to move on without the power forward/center. According to ESPN's Marc Stein, the team could consider using the amnesty clause on Blatche so as to avoid the $23 million still owed to the former 2nd round pick.

Stein also says that the Wizards are looking to trade Blatche, but realize a deal would be "near-miraculous."

Blatche has played seven seasons in the NBA, all with the Wizards, and has a career average of 9.9 points per game with 5.4 rebounds.
