Wizards Undecided On Andray Blatche And Amnesty Clause, According To Report

The Washington Wizards have been mulling over whether or not to use their amnesty clause on forward Andray Blatche. If the team decides to use amnesty on Blatche, it would save the team from having to pay the remaining $23 million on his contract. The Wizards are still undecided on what to do however, according to a report by David Aldridge of NBA.com.

The Washington Wizards are still undecided about whether to use the amnesty provision on one of the top league-wide candidates, forward Andray Blatche, according to sources. Washington is exploring several options for Blatche, who has fallen out of favor both with fans in D.C. and with the organization after signing a contract extension in 2010 that reworked his existing contract into a five-year deal worth $35 million.

If the Wizards opt for amnesty, as mentioned it would clear money off of their books and open up salary for potential extensions to younger players like John Wall. The problem with slapping Blatche with the amnesty clause would be stroking that $23 million check that owner Ted Leonsis would have to write.
