Barring some late breaking trade, the Washington Wizards appear poised to use the amnesty clause on forward Andray Blatche. Michael Lee of The Washington Post cited league sources in a Monday afternoon report on the Wizards' thinking regarding Blatche.

The deadline for using the amnesty clause is Tuesday, July 17, giving the Wizards slightly less than 24 hours to find a trade partner.
Blatche has fallen out of favor with the team's brass as well as the fans. Using the amnesty clause would remove more than $23 million off the payroll over the next three seasons. Whether or not another team will take a flyer on him if Washington does go the amnesty route remains to be seen.
