Clinton Portis left last Sunday's game against the Eagles with a groin injury, freeing Ryan Torain to excel on the ground. Now, it looks like Torain will get a chance to do that from the opening whistle.
Speaking on his radio show segment on 106.7 The Fan, Portis said that while he's still waiting for the MRI results, he likely will miss the Redskins game against the Packers next weekend.
"I don't think the team would even let me attempt to go and play on Sunday," Portis said to co-hosts Mike Wise and Holden Kushner. "But who knows."
Portis confirmed that the injury was his groin -- "up above the private spot," he said -- and nothing else. However, when asked whether he would be out for longer than next week, Portis wasn't able to commit to that.
"I’m going to take time to make sure I’m healed," he said, before later adding, "being in the condition that I'm in, I think my recovery will be fast."
