Week 9 NFL Standings: Washington Redskins Drop To 1.5 Games Back In NFC East

In a wide-open NFC, the Washington Redskins remain in the playoff hunt at 4-4, despite losing to the Detroit Lions in a game marred by the benching of Donovan McNabb. That probably says more about the NFC than anything, but it's still something to keep in mind before you worry that the sky is falling.

The Redskins are even still in the picture in the NFC East, with two division wins against the Cowboys and Eagles. However, they missed a chance to pull close to the first-place New York Giants, and now trail by 1.5 games. Here are the full NFC East standings.

  1. New York Giants: 5-2
  2. Philadelphia Eagles: 4-3
  3. Washington Redskins: 4-4
  4. Dallas Cowboys: 1-6
As for the NFC, the Redskins are now currently tied for ninth place with the St. Louis Rams, and the Rams hold the tiebreaker by virtue of their head-to-head win earlier this season. The Redskins are still just a game behind the New Orleans Saints for the sixth and final playoff spot. Here are the full NFC standings.
