Last year, a local college hoops rivalry was revitalized. George Washington and George Mason played each other for the first time in 11 years, in a game dubbed, appropriately, the "Battle of the Orange Line." George Washington won that game, pulling away from George Mason for a 66-49 win. Tonight, the two teams will do battle again in a rematch at the Patriot Center.
This time, it's the Patriots who are the favorites. George Mason is ranked 70th in Ken Pomeroy's ratings, compared to 170th for George Washington. The Patriots are 4-2 on the year, with losses to North Carolina State (by 13) and improved Wofford (by 3). George Washington, on the other hand, has already lost to Boston University, Hampton and UNC-Wilmington, the latter two at home. This certainly looks like a rebuilding year in Foggy Bottom.
The Patriots remember what happened to them in Foggy Bottom last year, and they're certainly looking for revenge. GMU Hoops has a more comprehensive preview here. The game will begin at 7 p.m., and while it isn't on television, it can be heard on 1050 AM.
