Redskins Tight Ends Coach Jon Embree Offered Colorado Head Coaching Job

The University of Colorado fired their head football coach Dan Hawkins within the past few weeks, and they are hoping that a former Buf will replace him. According to Michael David Smith of Pro Football Talk, Colorado has formally offered their vacant head coaching job to Jon Embree, who is currently serving as the Tight Ends coach of the Washington Redskins.

(Former Buf head coach Bill) McCartney said that Embree has been given a formal offer, and CU is hoping he accepts and then hires Vikings assistant Eric Bieniemy, who like Embree is a former Colorado player, as his offensive coordinator.

I don't really know how important Embree is to the offensive decision making of the Redskins, so I don't know what his absence will mean for the team. But this is a good opportunity for him to get a head coaching job at an established D-1 program.

We'll update you on whether or not Embree decides to accept that job in this StoryStream.

UPDATE:

Colorado Athletic Director Mike Bohn is refuting the report that the University has offered the coaching job to Embree, or anybody else for that matter, according to this tweet.

Colorado AD: "We have not yet offered the job to any candidate." Reports hv said job has been offered to #Redskins' TE coach Embree.less than a minute ago via web

More on this as it develops.
