Fresh off of his first appearance as a Redskin, defensive tackle Joe Joseph was arrested early this morning for a DUI, according to the Jason Reid of the Washington Post:
Redskins' defensive tackle Joe Joseph was arrested at 3 a.m. Monday on suspicion of driving under the influence of alcohol or drugs.
Vincent DiBenedetto, an investigator and the acting public information officer for the Sheriff's Department, said the department had Joe Louis Joseph, 25, in custody Monday, but could not confirm whether he was a member of the Washington Redskins.
However, a booking photo of Joseph matched photos of the ballplayer on the NFL.com and Redskins web sites.
No other details were available on the circumstances of Joseph's arrest. Redskins Senior Vice President Tony Wyllie said that "we're gathering all the facts right now. And that's really all I can say."
Joseph was signed to the Redskins active roster last week after numerous defensive players were either ruled out for the upcoming game or placed on season injured reserve.
Joseph appeared in the game when starting nose tackle Anthony Bryant went down briefly with injury. He was apart of a solid effort from a squad that was decimated with injuries both before the game as well as during the game.
What will be interesting to see is if the team decides to enforce any disciplinary action on Joseph this late in the season.
