If you have yet to read Dave Sheinin's behemoth of an article in the WaPo sports section today on Stephen Strasburg, I suggest you do so. Like, right now. Go ahead, I'll wait.
(Waits 15 minutes)
Good. Now, tell me, how do you feel? Totally in love with Stephen Strasburg, a.k.a. Strassy, a.k.a. Baseball Jesus, a.k.a. the best thing to happen to the world since Fun Dip? Yea, me too.
Amidst all the gushing - he's a great teammate and student of the game but an even better friend and life partner to his wife - Strasburg's competitive drive is highlighted. And now Sheinin's not the only one gushing; I am, too.
"My goal is not to just make it to the big leagues and say, 'Hey, I made it to the big leagues!' " he says. "I want to have a long, successful career, and I want to help the Nationals get a lot of wins and become one of the powers of major league baseball. That's my goal."
The Nationals: MLB powerhouse. Imagine that.
