United Midfielder Brandon Barklage Tears ACL In Left Knee

Everything about DC United's 3-2 exhibition win over European powerhouse AC Milan was good, except for the fact that midfielder Brandon Barklage had to leave the game with a knee injury in the second half. The diagnosis is in on his knee, and it's not good, according to The Washington Post's Paul Tenorio.

Midfielder Brandon Barklage tore the ACL in his left knee and also had a partial tear to the meniscus, the team said. Barklage likely will undergo surgery in the next week. He tore the ACL in his right knee last July in a U.S. Open Cup game.

"It's a devastating injury," United Coach Curt Onalfo said. "I don't think there's anything else he could have hurt inside his knee. Basically it's everything."

This means Barklage has now had two torn ACLs in his first two MLS seasons.
