The new Wizards owner has had to face some tough questions in the last few days as he takes over the reigns of the franchise. One of those questions surrounds the future of Gilbert Arenas, who has had a bit of a falling out with the franchise over the last year, not to mention he will have to adjust to playing a new position in order to stick around.
↵In light of all the questions focused on Arenas' future, someone asked Leonsis whether or not he would seek to trade Arenas before the start of the John Wall. Leonsis gave a firm no, and then gave the fairly blunt reason behind why, via the Washington Post:
↵↵↵"We're not actively trading him," Leonsis said. "But I would ask you to put yourself in another general manager's shoes. He was injured for two years and suspended for a year and he's a max [contract] player. If you were another team's general manager, would you be trading for Gilbert Arenas right now?"
↵
Is it the truth? Sure, but wow, that type of candid talk about player values has been missing in Washington for quite some time.
