According to Ed Price of Fanhouse, FOX has picked up Saturday's game between the White Sox and Nationals at Nationals Park.
Apparently FOX didn't get the memo from manager Jim Riggleman, who clearly stated that Stephen Strasburg would be starting every five days, not five games. So, instead of a high profile pitching matchup between Strasburg and Mark Buerhle (which will take place on Friday evening on MLB Network), viewers will be treated to Gavin Floyd-J.D. Martin.
Why on earth would they want to feature a Nats game on national television if it didn't feature Stephen Strasburg? Is this some sort of terrible mistake?!
No. Perhaps you're underestimating the power of J.D. Martin.
Sure, he's 0-2 with a 4.19 ERA in just three starts this year, but I'll be damned if someone tries to tell me he's not better than Stephen Strasburg, Nolan Ryan, and Walter Johnson combined; that he's not the best thing since string cheese; that he won't elevate his game on Saturday and pitch not one but two perfect games in a nine inning span.
So tune in to FOX at 4:05 p.m. on Saturday to witness the one, the only, J.D. Martin, unleashed.
You're welcome, FOX.
