Morning Commute: Is It Time For Drew Storen To Close?

Everything you need to know about DC Sports in one place.

So with Matt Capps blowing yet another save last night, I'll ask this question: is it time to think about letting hotshot prospect Drew Storen close?

Storen wasn't lights out yesterday, sure, but he was much better than Capps. Sure, Capps and the Nationals got robbed on this Lance Berkman no-call, but the reason that call mattered was because Capps loaded the bases. After a great start, Capps has not been very good recently. Just check out his splits, and note how everything just keeps going up.

Meanwhile, Storen has acquitted himself extremely well, giving up just one run before last night's game. Sure, you want to protect the young guy, but you also can't keep putting yourself in position to lose more close games. Maybe it's worth a shot.

As for everyone else, here's what's happening around the network:

Nationals: Federal Baseball argues that the Nationals need to stop giving outs away.

Redskins: Hogs Haven asks this question: should the Redskins go after former St. Louis free safety OJ Atogwe.

Wizards: Bullets Forever asks whether getting John Wall should change their strategy in free agency.

Capitals: Japers Rink recaps Mathieu Perreault's 2009/10 season.

United: Black and Red United believes it's past time for Adam Cristman to start over Jaime Moreno.

Maryland: Stud recruit Jordan Allen commits to Maryland ... or not

Georgetown: Via Casual Hoya, it appears Georgetown is closing in on a top big man in the Class of 2011.

Read of the day: Barry Svrluga's look back at the 2005 Nationals team that improbably won 10 straight and led the NL East at one point. Check out the entire Starting Lineup on the main page.

On tap on SBNDC: Jordan's first high school recap should be up around noon.
