It makes sense that Stephen Strasburg would admire Jake Peavy. Growing up in San Diego, Strasburg had plenty of opportunities to watch Jake Peavy while he racked up wins, All-Star appearances and a Cy Young award in 2007. But until today, most people probably didn't know that Peavy shares the same respect for Strasburg. Here's what he had to say about getting the chance to meet Strasburg before today's game, via Adam Kilgore:
↵↵↵"I look forward to getting a chance to say hello to him today, wishing him the best. I'm just a fan. Obviously his stuff, his ability, speaks for itself. He's going to be as good as he wants to be for as long he wants to be. Even more so, as a baseball fan, just the way he's handled the media attention, the hype, everything that has come along with it, makes me even more a fan from the outside."

He might only be 21, but I'm sure Stephen Strasburg has already taken care of a significant portion of his baseball bucket list. He's pitching in the majors, was once managed by Tony Gwynn, threw 23 strikeouts in one game while at San Diego State, threw 14 strikeouts in his major league debut and has the respect and adoration of his favorite player while growing up. All he has left to do now is pitch a perfect game in the World Series and I think Strasburg can retire a happy man.
